The Los Angeles FamilySearch Library or LAFSL was established in 1964 to service the needs of the then 6.4 million citizens of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Non members are welcome and there is no charge for facility use. About 60% of those coming to the LAFSL were not members of the Church. The LAFSL has one of the LARGEST holdings of any branch in the Family History Library System of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The LAFSL has access to the 2.4 million microfilms in the Salt Lake City Family History Library.

The LAFSL offers patrons:

NEW FILM/FICHE ORDERING PROCEDURES
There are now new procedures for ordering microfilm/microfiche. All film/fiche orders must be made by the patrons using on-line ordering and patrons will be able to order from home. If patrons need help, information and instructions will be given by the staff at the LAFSL. The website for ordering the film/fiche is at: https://www.familysearch.org/films/ Patrons without an account will need to create an account at the "Sign In" at the upper right at https://www.familysearch.org/films/

The LAFSL is located behind the Los Angeles LDS Temple on "Temple Hill" and downstairs in the Visitor's Center. Access is via the east side of the Visitor's Center.

Directions
Exit on the San Diego 405 Freeway to Santa Monica Blvd and go east 13 blocks. Turn left from Santa Monica Boulevard onto Manning, make first left onto Eastbourne and the entrance to Temple Hill. Follow the signs to the Temple Visitor's Center.

From the Santa Monica Freeway (10), exit on Overland going north to Santa Monica Boulevard. Turn right on "Big" Santa Monica Boulevard then an immediate left on Manning Avenue, first left on Eastbourne and the entrance to Temple Hill. Follow the signs to the Temple Visitor's Center.
